  • Self-reported alcohol consumption in the prior 28 days
  • Number of risky drinking days in the prior 28 days

Secondary Outcome Measures:
  • Health care utilization
  • car crashes
  • criminal justice system involvement

Study Completion Date: November 2004
Primary Completion Date: June 2004 (Final data collection date for primary outcome measure)

Ages Eligible for Study:   21 Years to 59 Years
Genders Eligible for Study:   Both
Accepts Healthy Volunteers:   No
Criteria

Inclusion Criteria:

  • primary care patients with DSM-IV alcohol abuse or dependence

Exclusion Criteria:

  • pregnancy
  • suicidality
  • alcohol treatment in prior 3 months
